New Class Released And An Upcoming Exciting Free Webinar!

Who knew how much work it was to learn everything there is to know about teaching online. I did my beta class on Zoom where I showed up live each week at a specific time and then recorded the session so people could listen to it afterwards.

I learned Zoom, and audio and video editing. I also learned that was not a sustainable way to teach classes online.

So, onto the next adventure. Record me teaching in short video clips. So now I need a platform to teach on. In comes Thinkific, which I had to learn (fairly easy overall). But… how does it talk to my website? How do I automate the emails to the students when they purchase the class? How do I make it the best experience for the students? What is the best way to make all the pieces work together?

So, I learned all the different platforms, to do that and now how do I market it? I have taught for years in community leagues, businesses, for Cities & Towns where they did most of the marketing. I have a very small email list...

Creativity Coaching

So, I have been taking a coaching certification program to help myself but I also thought it would be a great way to help my clients.

I am funny, when I start something I like to learn everything about it. I had started with a coach to help grow my business and work through some of my limiting beliefs. I love it, and I find it incredibly motivating and I feel so empowered after a session and get so much done. So, me being me, I wanted to learn more about it and thought this could really help my clients grow more creatively. And it is so true. I am so excited by this program I am taking and what I realized is that I have actually been doing this type of coaching (for free) most of my life.

As a creative person I have always wanted to encourage others to follow their passions no matter what that looks like. Even though I have often limited myself with self-sabotage I have helped many people to follow their own paths.

Tangent: Self sabotage is something I have worked on for years and...

10 Amazing Creativity Books

I have compiled a list of 10 amazing creativity books, some that I have read and love and some that have been recommended to me and may be waiting on my bookshelf to be read. What are you reading now?

1. The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. One of my favourite of all time. Julia Cameron has many different books and workbooks but this is my favourite. I have used this book over and over again throughout the years to get back on track with my creativity and to dig deep. I will be running a course on this book in the near future.

“The Artist’s Way is the seminal book on the subject of creativity. An international bestseller, millions of readers have found it to be an invaluable guide to living the artist's life. it is a powerfully provocative and inspiring work.”

2. Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert. I personally am an Elizabeth Gilbert fan, her Eat, Pray, Love made me want to run...

Happy V Day!

Valentine's Day is this week, do you have plans? Is Valentine’s day important to you? Do you go out, do you buy gifts?

I have always avoided anything where there was a lot of people so going out for holidays has never been fun for me, until recently.

My partner and I enjoy going out for good food, and we like quiet places. Last year we went to Cafe Linnea, a french restaurant and had their wonderful set menu, it was delightful and made me rethink going out for holidays. This year we are going to Zinc, a wonderful restaurant in the Museum. I am looking forward to it. We went there for our first “official” date. Funny story behind that that I may share another time.

I am also fine with not celebrating holidays on the actual date and even though I know people put a lot of meaning into these dates I have never really understood it. Does not having a “date” for Valentine’s Day upset you? Or are you Ok with it being just another day.

My favourite part...

Today Is Chinese New Year

The New Year greeting in Chinese is “xin nian kuai le”
The phrase literally means “Happy New Year.”

But in Hong Kong and other Cantonese-speaking regions, it's more common to say “gong hei fat choy.” In Mandarin Chinese, it's “gong xi fa cai” (恭喜发财). It means “congratulations on the fortune.”

Chinese New Year, commonly known as Lunar New Year, is a Chinese festival that celebrates the beginning of a new year on the traditional Chinese calendar. The festival is usually referred to as the Spring Festival in modern China, and is one of several Lunar New Years in Asia.

2019 is the year of the Pig.

Year of the Pig 2019 : a year of fortune and luck!

The Pig is the twelfth of all zodiac animals. According to one myth, the Jade Emperor said the order would be decided by the order in which they arrived to his party. Pig was late because he overslept.

The Pig is also associated with the Earthly Branch (地支—dì zhī) hài...

Stepping Out Of My Comfort Zone

I’ve mentioned it on FaceBook that I am speaking next week. I have taught many many classes over the last 30 years. I could probably say in the hundreds. But there is something different in giving a talk or a speech. I have done it, but it really stresses me out, and previously a few times I have literally shook through the whole speech. But, only when I have script, when I have things that I need to make sure I mention. When I free talk or teach I have no anxiety at all.

Next week I am talking in front of a relatively small group (20-40), and yet knowing there are points I want to touch on, and a particular order that the story needs to be told in to have the correct flow has got me quite anxious. I am still going to do it, but it is wayyyyyy out of my comfort zone.

As I am writing this I am listening to videos on the Path to Freedom, letting go of perfectionism. And I think my anxiety comes not from doing it right for others, the group is very positive and supportive. But, I...

Tomorrow Is Handwriting Day

January 23 is Handwriting Day, a day to get your hands on a pen or pencil and paper and practice and revive the elegant art of handwriting. Grab that journal (or paper) and start writing.

Handwriting is the act of writing by hand using an instrument such as a pen, pencil or brush. It is thought that a person's handwriting is as unique as his or her fingerprint - no two people have the same writing style or handwriting. Because of this, handwriting is often used by many forensic experts and historians to test the authenticity of documents.

Originally introduced by the Writing Instrument Manufacturers Association in 1977 to promote the sale of writing materials, National Handwriting Day has become an opportunity to celebrate manuscript and cursive—and remind ourselves why it’s so important for students’ literacy development!

The twenty-third of January is John Hancock’s birthday. Hancock is best known as having the first and most prominent signature on the...

Get Your Creative Juices Flowing

Creativity is in everyone, everyone is creative. It’s just that for some of us that creative spark may be buried under responsibilities, negative feelings, and old stories where we tell ourselves that we aren’t any good.

Creativity needs to be given a chance at life, remember when you were a kid and would get out the crayons and colour, you would draw your home and family, you would make furniture for your dolls.

Creativity is still in you, it just may be buried.
There are many simple—and fun—ways to let your creativity loose, whether you’re interested in nurturing your hobbies or your business. You can apply creativity to any endeavor or craft.

Don’t wait for inspiration to strike. Sometimes good ideas just pop into our heads (write those down). But more often, it takes effort. You can’t sit and wait for a brilliant idea to come along, you’ve got to start building up your creative discipline. Spend time pursuing creativity,...

I have collected so many colouring books over the years. I love the drawings and have always been too afraid to mess them up by colouring in them. Silly I know.

At Christmas, I received a couple of sets of fine markers and it has changed colouring for me. I can’t get enough now. The fine tips and bright colours make colouring in these amazingly detailed colouring books so easy and fun.

I have even played around with drawing my own colouring pages. I used them for my thank you postcards when people bought my art (they now need to be updated with the new branding). But, you know what? I never even coloured one of the ones I created.

What was that about? Was it the perfectionism freeze? I know I have trouble writing in books, but colouring books are meant to be written in, coloured in. but, I do think that is what it was, I didn’t want to mess up those great drawings.

There is no wrong way to colour, so why was I so afraid?
I recently got back to my art...

Happy New Year!

I hope you had a wonderful New Years Eve!

A new year means a new start. I love new beginnings for this reason, whether it is January 1 or the beginning of a new school year or the beginning of summer holidays, or even the beginning of a new week. Beginnings are a chance to start over, reinvent yourself and try something new.

I had a nice sleep in this morning, even though I didn’t make it until Midnight last night. That is too late for me, and I was still able to celebrate the end of 2018 and the beginning of 2019.

Last night we had a nice dinner with friends and this morning I got up and wrote out my goals for this year. I don’t really set any resolutions, but I now have a list of goals to work towards throughout the year. And most of them will be great for you. Lots of new classes and plans for the business were at the top of my list.
“Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible.”
-Tony Robbins
This year my main goal...
