What Are Some Of Your Key Issues, Third Follow Up

Three weeks ago we started with our ‘You can Heal your Life’ checklist and finding 3-5 key themes that are prevalent in our lives, basically what our issues or blocks are.  Two weeks ago we looked at Fear, Anger, & Possessiveness, and last week we looked at Resentment, Lack of Love, and Rejection/Abandonment.

Don’t forget to share how your journaling and reading are going. Have you read any great books lately?

As a quick recap for those who are just joining us, if you go back to Aug 13, 2019 (3 weeks ago) we did a list of symptoms and where we hold our blocks in our body. And over the last couple of weeks we have been discussing some of those themes.

This week we will look at Controlling/Lack of Control, Frustration, & Anxiety and how we can work through those blocks in our life. This week we add Binaural Beats to help us heal.

See last week (Aug 27, 2019) for more information on Tapping. Two weeks ago (Aug 20, 2019) for more information on Affirmations and Meditation.

Binaural Beats
Binaural beats therapy is an emerging form of soundwave therapy in which the right and left ears listen to two slightly different frequency tones yet perceive the tone as one. The binaural auditory beat that a person hears is the difference in frequency between the left and the right ear and should be at frequencies lower than 1000 hertz (Hz) for the brain to detect the binaural beats.

Research has shown that when a person listens to binaural beats for a recommended time, their levels of arousal change. Researchers believe these changes occur because the binaural beats activate specific systems within the brain. An electroencephalogram (EEG) that recorded the electrical brain activity of people listening to binaural beats showed that the effect on a person's body varied according to the frequency pattern used.

How to use binaural beats
To listen to binaural beats, you will need a pair of stereo headphones.

Avoid using binaural beats therapy while undertaking tasks that require alertness and full attention, such as driving. You will need:

  • 15-30 minutes of listening time
  • A quiet and relaxing place to listen
  • Stereo headphones because each ear hears the sounds in a different frequency
  • Patience

It is recommended that to get the full and maximal effect of binaural beats therapy, people should practice it for 15-30 minutes every day for 30 to 45 days.

You will find some binaural beats music below.

Controlling/lack of Control
Controlling behaviors are actions in which an individual likes or 'needs' to be in charge and manage the actions of another person or group. They are comfortable at supervisory and dominating behaviors. Although controlling behavior is not necessarily bad (they can be beneficial in business, the military, or leadership roles) it is often used in a negative manner.

Controlling behaviours often stem from a feeling of lack of control and needing to regiment or control an aspect of their lives. Or from a lack of control in childhood and needing to now be in control. The root is insecurity and anxiety deep within.

Start to challenge your behaviours and look at where they are coming from. When you see yourself trying to control a situation stop, breathe, and look at what is the worst that can happen and what would happen if you were not in charge. If you don’t catch yourself immediately look at it afterward and decide what you could have done differently.

This has been a big one for me, and I realized that my controlling behaviour comes from my Asperger’s anxiety, I need to know what is going to happen, so if I control the situation I know what is going to happen. What I have learned is that I need to ask others what is going to happen and then I can let go of needing to control the situation. If we are driving somewhere, I need to ask the way we are going so I can plan the trip in my head. I don’t need to tell them how to get there in the way my brain has it planned out.

Affirmations: I move forward easily in life. I gently flow with life & each new experience. I create my own life. I choose to handle all my experiences with love and jowy and with ease. I claim my own power. I trust life.

Frustration
Frustration is an emotion that occurs in situations where a person is blocked from reaching the desired outcome.  In general, whenever we reach one of our goals, we feel pleased and whenever we are prevented from reaching our goals, we may succumb to frustration and feel irritable, annoyed, and angry. Typically, the more important the goal, the greater the frustration and resultant anger or loss of confidence.

Frustration is not necessarily bad since it can be a useful indicator of the problems in a person's life and, as a result, it can act as a motivator to change.  However, when it results in anger, irritability, stress, resentment, depression, or a spiral downward where we have a feeling of resignation or giving up, frustration can be destructive.

  • Take some deep breaths. This will allow you to calm your pent-up emotions and restore a sense of calm.
  • Figure out the source of the frustration. Now that you’re thinking more clearly, use this clarity to focus on what may be the probable cause that you’re experiencing frustration.
  • Remind yourself that this will pass. Frustration shouldn’t be an ongoing experience. By recognizing that emotions are generally fleeting, you rob them of their power and hold on you.
  • Work on something else. Distraction is a great method to get past a roadblock. It works in problem-solving, getting past anger and other emotions – including frustration.
  • Do something pleasant. Instead of beating yourself up mentally over your frustrating day, do something enjoyable.

Affirmations: I live in the now. Only right & good action is taking place in my life. I love and approve of myself. I create only peace and harmony within myself and in my environment. There is a harmonious solution & I accept it now. Joy now flows freely within me and I am at peace with life.

Anxiety
Anxiety is your body’s natural response to stress. It’s a feeling of fear or apprehension about what’s to come. Prolonged anxiety may cause you to stop doing the things you enjoy. In extreme cases, it may prevent you from entering an elevator, crossing the street, or even leaving your home. If left untreated, the anxiety will keep getting worse.

Deep breathing is an amazing tool for anxiety. You can use it anywhere and as many times as you need to.

  • Stop what you’re doing

If possible, find a comfortable place to sit down. If you can’t sit, standing works just fine.

  • Close your eyes and focus on your breathing

If you get distracted — by daily worries, let’s say, or a car stereo blasting, focus on the distraction for a moment and do your best to redirect your attention back to your breathing.

  • Count “one” as you inhale

Many people breathe from their chest, which doesn’t make the most of deep breathing. Try to breathe deep into your stomach. You’re on the right track if your stomach rises first.

  • Count “two” as you exhale.

Keeping counting, and inhaling and exhaling, until you get to 10. By then, you’ll have taken 5 deep breaths in about a minute. Run through this easy routine once and you’ll feel better. Do it a couple more times, and you’ll feel the stress and tension melt away.

Affirmations: It is safe for me to love and care for myself. I comfortably a& easily release the old & welcome the new in my life.  I accept life and am always safe. I understand clearly and I am willing to change with the times. I love myself and trust the process of life. I digest and assimilate all new experiences peacefully and joyously.
