How Was Your Easter? April Is A Busy Family Month For Us.

How did you celebrate the holiday?  For me, I technically celebrate in March for Ostera, so it was a pretty quiet weekend. Normally we would celebrate with my partners family but due to the fact she had two root canals in a little over a week and was withdrawing from the pain meds, we decided it was best to stay home.

We have already had our family celebration this month with my side of the family. Last week we celebrated all the birthdays.

My granddaughter Kali turned 7 last week.

A few days before that my oldest daughter Nicole celebrated her birthday. She’s getting up there so that means I’m getting up there so we don’t need to share her age. :-)

Next week 2 more of my grand kids have birthdays.
Emma is first and she will turn 7.

Kash is the next day, and he will turn 4.

We had a fun time last week at an indoor playground. Emma and Kali (cousins) are quite close as their birthdays are only 13 days apart. They...

Easter Tree

Do you have an Easter Tree?

Every year I love the first pussy willows, and I love to use them as my Easter tree. If the pussy willows aren’t out I will use other branches, but pussy willows are my favourite. I love the little fuzzy nubs, they remind me of bunny tails.

I used to have quite a collection of Easter ornaments that I would use year to year, I had some from Europe and other travels to decorate my Easter tree. I got rid of them in one of my decluttering moments years ago. And then I realized I missed my Easter tree, so now I use bows and small coloured eggs that either my grandkids have decorated or that I pick up at the dollar store.

For me it is more about the pussy willows. If you place them in plaster or rocks with water, the branches will still bloom. That way you have a mix of greenery with the colours.

This year I wanted to so something a bit different so I am making a few ornaments.

#100DAYPROJECT Starts Today

I love taking part in creativity projects. I always encourage people to be creative whenever they can, and challenges are a great way to connect to others who are creating and keep us on track to help build habits. Plus you can get some really amazing ideas from others who are participating.

My 100 day goal is to create a video a day. I have my website and social media accounts, I also have a not for profit and my personal account. Plus making video for courses, so I feel that this is a really good fit for me right now.

My last day of a video course/challenge I am taking with Niamh Arthur (I highly recommend her) ends today, so it is perfect timing for me to do this challenge.

I have struggled a lot with being on camera, I think I have spoken of this before. I was told growing up that I was not photogenic, I was told that we didn't purchase family photos because of me in the photos. So I have spent my whole life avoiding photos, and there are not a lot of me.

Usually if a...

Exciting New Program - Soul Creative

This is more than a class, it is an intensive healing experience.

I am so excited to be sharing about this new program I am putting together.

I have written and taught courses for over 30 years. Online is still new to me but I am learning much more about great ways to share information online, and you will be seeing a lot more video so I can connect more with all of you. I also love emails and messages on FaceBook and any feedback you are willing to give. All of this allows me to  get to know you better.

This course has been the easiest I have ever written, it is literally falling right out onto the page. Not that it isn’t a lot of work, it is. Writing an 8 week intensive program takes a lot of time and energy. But it has actually energized me to do so. Every step has come to me through the divine and I am so grateful to be able to share it. I am personally working through all the exercises to be able to feel into it, and it is amazing and healing, I am feeling so energized...

Spring Is Finally Here!

This winter has seemed especially long, the coldest winter in 40 years here in Alberta. I walk every day and it has been a cold biting, wind blowing winter. This past week all the windows  were open when we were home to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. I could finally complete a few paintings that needed spray paint or created a mess.

Fall always feels like the beginning of a new year to me (I think from the years of first days at school). But, spring feels like rebirth or springing forward with new adventures. The longer days wake us up from the hibernation of winter and make me want to get to work, to do things, to create more.

I am in full on creation mode, working on so many new classes, working on new paintings as well as writing my life story. I have been talking about writing this book for years. I have started and stopped so many times. But, this time it is just flowing from me. It was funny because so many people have told me to write a book about my life, but I always...

St Patrick'S Day

Every March 17, St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated with parades, parties, and a lot of green. This date marks the death of Saint Patrick, the Patron Saint of Ireland. Thought to have been born Maewyn Succat in late-4th Century Britain, the historical figure known as St. Patrick used the name "Patricius" in his writings. St. Patrick was neither Irish nor initially a devout Christian. At the age of 16, he was kidnapped and brought to Ireland as a slave. After years of enslavement, it is said a voice came to him in his sleep and urged him to escape.

Reunited with his family, St. Patrick studied to become a priest and spent the remainder of his life as a missionary in Ireland. St. Patrick is attributed with using the three leaves of the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity and banishing snakes from Ireland (although no evidence supports their existence on the island). St. Patrick’s Day was only a minor holiday in Ireland until the 1970s. In the United States, it has...

New Class Released And An Upcoming Exciting Free Webinar!

Who knew how much work it was to learn everything there is to know about teaching online. I did my beta class on Zoom where I showed up live each week at a specific time and then recorded the session so people could listen to it afterwards.

I learned Zoom, and audio and video editing. I also learned that was not a sustainable way to teach classes online.

So, onto the next adventure. Record me teaching in short video clips. So now I need a platform to teach on. In comes Thinkific, which I had to learn (fairly easy overall). But… how does it talk to my website? How do I automate the emails to the students when they purchase the class? How do I make it the best experience for the students? What is the best way to make all the pieces work together?

So, I learned all the different platforms, to do that and now how do I market it? I have taught for years in community leagues, businesses, for Cities & Towns where they did most of the marketing. I have a very small email list...

Creativity Coaching

So, I have been taking a coaching certification program to help myself but I also thought it would be a great way to help my clients.

I am funny, when I start something I like to learn everything about it. I had started with a coach to help grow my business and work through some of my limiting beliefs. I love it, and I find it incredibly motivating and I feel so empowered after a session and get so much done. So, me being me, I wanted to learn more about it and thought this could really help my clients grow more creatively. And it is so true. I am so excited by this program I am taking and what I realized is that I have actually been doing this type of coaching (for free) most of my life.

As a creative person I have always wanted to encourage others to follow their passions no matter what that looks like. Even though I have often limited myself with self-sabotage I have helped many people to follow their own paths.

Tangent: Self sabotage is something I have worked on for years and...

I have compiled a list of 10 amazing creativity books, some that I have read and love and some that have been recommended to me and may be waiting on my bookshelf to be read. What are you reading now?

1. The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. One of my favourite of all time. Julia Cameron has many different books and workbooks but this is my favourite. I have used this book over and over again throughout the years to get back on track with my creativity and to dig deep. I will be running a course on this book in the near future.

Happy V Day!

Valentine's Day is this week, do you have plans? Is Valentine’s day important to you? Do you go out, do you buy gifts?

I have always avoided anything where there was a lot of people so going out for holidays has never been fun for me, until recently.

My partner and I enjoy going out for good food, and we like quiet places. Last year we went to Cafe Linnea, a french restaurant and had their wonderful set menu, it was delightful and made me rethink going out for holidays. This year we are going to Zinc, a wonderful restaurant in the Museum. I am looking forward to it. We went there for our first “official” date. Funny story behind that that I may share another time.

I am also fine with not celebrating holidays on the actual date and even though I know people put a lot of meaning into these dates I have never really understood it. Does not having a “date” for Valentine’s Day upset you? Or are you Ok with it being just another day.

My favourite part...
