St Patrick'S Day

Every March 17, St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated with parades, parties, and a lot of green. This date marks the death of Saint Patrick, the Patron Saint of Ireland. Thought to have been born Maewyn Succat in late-4th Century Britain, the historical figure known as St. Patrick used the name "Patricius" in his writings. St. Patrick was neither Irish nor initially a devout Christian. At the age of 16, he was kidnapped and brought to Ireland as a slave. After years of enslavement, it is said a voice came to him in his sleep and urged him to escape.
Reunited with his family, St. Patrick studied to become a priest and spent the remainder of his life as a missionary in Ireland. St. Patrick is attributed with using the three leaves of the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity and banishing snakes from Ireland (although no evidence supports their existence on the island). St. Patrick’s Day was only a minor holiday in Ireland until the 1970s. In the United States, it has been celebrated since before the Revolutionary War, when Irish members of the Colonial Army held the first Saint Patrick’s Day Parade in New York City in 1762. Do you celebrate? I have to say I don’t really celebrate, I do usually try to wear green (it seems like a support thing to me). I don’t drink beer and I don’t like crowds so drinking green at a parade is not going to happen. However, I did once have a friend make me green pancakes on St patrick’s day. It didn’t go well, pancakes should not be green. I associate green with vegetables (they don’t belong in pancakes) or with mold (also doesn’t belong...in any food). So, I just couldn’t bring myself to eat them. I understood the sentiment just couldn’t participate. I’m weird like that sometimes.

Cute Pot of Gold Idea
Supplies:
Step 1: paint the pot black.
Step 2: put glue around the rim of the pot and roll in gold glitter to cover.
Step 3: Paint a shamrock with glue on the side of the pot (you can cut out a stencil for this or sketch it on the pot first).
Step 4: Cover shamrock shaped glue with gold glitter.
Step 5: Let dry.
Step 6: Fill with Rolo chocolates (or any gold foil chocolates).
