Six Fun Ways to Bring Excitement Back Into Your Life (+ a fun challenge)

Happiness is not a destination, it’s the journey. Sometimes life may feel like it’s getting a bit boring or mundane, you can shake that up by adding a little excitement.

Part of that journey is to live in the moment, and enjoy each step of the way. You will not be happier when you get to a certain point, whether it be losing weight, earning more money, or moving to another location. Happiness is a mindset you choose.

Being excited about your life helps you choose that mindset. Here are six ways to add excitement to your life.

Celebrate the small things,celebrate that compliment your boss finally gave you. Celebrate reaching a goal, celebrate everything. Life is so much more fun when we celebrate. It doesn’t have to be huge, maybe treat yourself to something, or use that fancy china for the bar b q tonight. Celebrate with a friend, hold a brag nite once a week and you can each brag about the things you each did.

Get Curious about things. Have you ever wondered how that candy you love was made? Have you ever wondered how far it is to Portugal from where you live? What have you wondered? Look it up, explore, learn and experience. 

If you want to even dig a little deeper get curious about why you do what you do, why you say what you say, why you think what you think. Check back in your own history and find out where those thoughts came from, challenge yourself to  think differently, try it on for size.

Learn something new. What have you always wanted to try? You don’t need to make it your life's work, unless you want to, but try something new. Always wanted to try glass blowing, call up a local glass blower and ask about classes. Always wondered about how those french butter makers shape the butter that way? Check out some YouTube videos and learn. There is no end of possibilities in the world now. 

Meet new people. Sometimes we just need some new people in our lives to shake things up, make us look at things a little differently. Join a meetup group or go to a class, get out there where new people to you will be found. Step out of your comfort zone, it is amazing what you will find out there.

Try the 5 Second Rule. Feeling stuck and not wanting to get moving. Count backwards from 5, when you get to 1 jump up and get at it. Can;t get out of bed, count backwards from 5 and when you get to one get up. The 5 second rule is a great way to motivate yourself and get things done. Afraid to go into that new salon alone, 5..4..3..2..1 and walk in and book your appointment.

Accept a fun challenge. Challenges make us focus, think and call on resources that we may not have known we had. Overcoming a challenge can make us feel accomplished. Challenges can be things that pop up or ones you create for yourself.

I am going to challenge you to a fun one. Once you are done post it on the Creative U Facebook page and then celebrate.

I challenge you to recreate the same picture in multiple mediums, at least 2. Whether it is acrylic paint, watercolor, markers, crayons, collage, vegetable carving, butter art,  photography, any mediums you choose. Recreate 1 picture 4 times. I can’t wait to see what you create… and how you celebrate.

You don’t have to get this elaborate (unless you want to), maybe a simple photograph redone as a painting, redone in crayon, or markers, or collage, or with vegetables. There are so many fun things you can do.
